Medicare Provider Enrollment

Medical Professionals Billing is dedicated to helping you, the provider, stay current in all aspects of the billing process including Medicare provider enrollment and revalidation. With rules and regulations regarding medical billing changing all the time, it is of the utmost importance to make sure you are current with your enrollment information. Lack of doing so will only create a problem for your practice, as well as prolong the time in which you receive payment.

Section 6401(a) of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act states that all enrolled providers in the healthcare industry are required to revalidate their enrollment information using new enrollment screening criteria. This revalidation process applies to providers that enrolled prior to March 25, 2011. Providers that are newly enrolled and submitting enrollment applications to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on or after March 25, 2011, will not be affected. Up until March 23, 2013, you, the provider, will be receiving a notice from your Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) regarding the revalidation process.

As your billing provider, Medical Professionals Billing will help you through the revalidation process by taking care of the paperwork for you. This way your time is focused on patient care, not paperwork. It is important to note that if providers fail to respond to revalidation requests within the time frame specified in the letter sent out by your MAC (30-60 days), it will result in deactivation of billing privileges. In the case of deactivation, providers will have go through the process of re-enrolling in Medicare.

This is something we want to avoid as your medical billing service. As said before, we want to make the billing process for your practice as simple and hassle-free as possible. We feel that by providing a comprehensive service to you, your job, as well as ours will be that much easier. We want to work together with our providers to ensure your claims are being paid. The last thing we want to see happen is that you go months without receiving payment from Medicare because you didn’t complete your revalidation. Medical Professionals Billing is here to help.
